Untying the Knots of the Heart is a small-group discipleship journey that God uses to help participants face their struggles, identify the root causes of their pain, and find new freedom & joy in Jesus Christ. This Biblical, 12-lesson process gives participants the tools and perspectives they need to heal and thrive again.

What does UTK
look like?
Each group meets weekly for 8-12 weeks.
Before each class time, group participants read that week’s lesson so they can show up ready for a rich group discussion. In the first half of each class, facilitators play a brief video - pausing to lead interactive group discussions and exercises. The second half of the group time dives deeper into understanding and sharing participants' own stories and life experiences.

Untying the Knots of the Heart is the most comprehensive and impactful thing our church does to help people experience long-lasting gospel-centered change and freedom. I’ve never seen anything as effective. God has used this incredible program to literally transform people in Christ.
I facilitate UTK groups because I love watching the Lord heal wounds and transform hearts. It is amazing to watch someone’s eyes light up and their face soften as they digest for the first time the depth of love God has for them. My faith and hope are continually strengthened as I walk this journey with others toward healing and redemption.
Untying the Knots of the Heart was invaluable for me in unraveling the false beliefs I had and how they affected my decision making in ways I had never realized. It’s been, without a doubt, one of the most deeply impactful experiences in my walk with God. Every pastor should take and lead this group.

How does leading UTK work?
We understand - knowing how to help others with “heart stuff” can be tough, that’s why we’ve made leading a UTK group simple.
You’ll start by taking our self-paced, online training. Then, you’ll schedule your class and invite people to join. Next, through 12 video lessons you’ll help lead participants through rich and interactive discussions. Your job isn’t to fix anyone. It’s to create a safe place where people can be real, and to encourage them as they experience healing.

WHO CAN BE AN UNTYING THE KNOTS OF THE HEART FACILITATOR?
Anyone who loves God, loves people, and wants to make a difference in their church community.
Each year, we partner with people around the world who long to bring hope and healing to hurting Christians. They aren’t know-it-all Bible pros, or “perfect” Christians - just regular folks with a heart to help others. We’ll provide you all the training and resources you need to facilitate a group.

What UTK teaches and touches on, is saturated in scripture. In fact, it is scripture that allows participants in this process to go deeper with the gospel, so Christ can transform every area of their life. We strongly believe God’s Word is the answer. The Bible alone defines who God is, who we are and what life is about.

All you need is to:
- Love God
- Love the Bible
- Be comfortable facilitating a small group
- Be ready to make a difference.
Important – You probably won’t enjoy facilitating a UTK group if you are very uncomfortable with:
- People’s messiness
- People processing their heart and issues VS quick fixes
- Entering discussions with people about their losses, hurts, and stories
- If you want to just “teach” a class or bible study
You don’t need to know all of the Bible or have significant experience in a small group setting. If you want to take people through a process rather than just “teach”, this is for you. Anyone who loves God, loves people, and wants to make a difference in their community can be a great facilitator!
Rest easy – it’s not all up to you. Facilitators are just that, facilitators. They rely on the Holy Spirit, the group discussion, and the content to open hearts and do the deep meaningful work of Untying the Knots.

Many Christian resources lead us to try to change our behavior or circumstances without addressing the root causes. Untying the Knots of the Heart is a dynamic, interactive process that helps people address the source of their sin and struggles, rather than offering a “band-aid” or quick fix.
We all know that information alone doesn’t change people. UTK takes the life-changing truths of the gospel and helps participants identify the areas in which the gospel is not being fully integrated or lived out in their lives.
Untying the Knots of the Heart is not:
Your everyday small group curriculum or Bible study
It’s a dynamic and interactive process, where participants learn to unpack who they are in light of who Christ is.
Taught like a class
UTK is not just another source of information. Using interactive learning techniques, UTK is a unique journey where both facilitator and participants can process, learn from each other, and experience healing.
Group therapy or counseling
It’s a discipleship process that can have similar outcomes
